(2 Days 1 Night) Stay at the Hidden Paradise of Iya Onsen! Enjoy Both Sea and Mountains in Tokushima
On the first day, experience indigo dyeing at “Ai-no-Yakata,” visit the nationally designated natural monument “Awa no Dochuu,” explore the “Wakimachi Udatsu Townscape” with its preserved Edo-period merchant houses, and tour Oboke and Iya. On the second day, visit the “Naruto Whirlpools,” one of the world’s three major tidal currents, and the “Otsuka Museum of Art.”

Route: Tokushima Station → Indigo Dyeing Experience → Awa no Dochuu → Wakimachi Udatsu Townscape → Oboke Gorge → Iya
A facility utilizing a merchant’s mansion from the Edo period where you can feel the history. In addition to exhibitions on the history and production methods of Awa indigo, you can easily try indigo dyeing experiences.
Transportation: 30 minutes by car
Awa no Dochuu (30 minutes)
One of the 88 scenic spots of Shikoku. This artistic plateau was created over long periods when ancient deposits of soil and gravel were uplifted and carved by rainwater erosion. From the front observation deck, you can see geological layers from about 1 million years ago up close.

Wakimachi Udatsu Townscape / Lunch
A retro area lined with merchant houses built from the mid-Edo period to the early Showa period. The landscape of stately buildings with white walls and “udatsu” (decorative fire walls) gives you the feeling of time-traveling to the Edo period. There are many restaurants and cafes near the Udatsu townscape, so you can enjoy gourmet food along with exploring the streets.

Oboke Gorge Sightseeing Cruise (50 minutes)
Cruise the beautiful emerald green river. You can enjoy the magnificent sculptural beauty carved by erosion over more than 200 million years and the great nature that changes expression with each season.

Iya Kazurabashi Vine Bridge (60 minutes)
A suspension bridge spanning the Iya River, approximately 45m long and 2m wide. Legend has it that the Heike people, defeated in the Genpei War, built it from plants so they could cut it down at any time to escape pursuers. At about 14m above the water surface, this bridge offers thrills as you can see the river directly through the gaps. This bridge, where you can experience leg-weakening thrills, is an excellent activity to experience nature’s grandeur.

From ancient murals to contemporary paintings, over 190 Western masterpieces from 26 countries worldwide are reproduced and displayed in their original sizes using special technology. There are also themed exhibitions displaying representative works by artists from different eras, allowing you to experience art museums from around the world. The restaurant offers menus featuring Naruto wakame seaweed and fresh seafood.
A marine promenade installed beneath the roadway of the Onaruto Bridge. Located about 45 meters above sea level, you can view the powerful Naruto whirlpools through glass floors. The Naruto whirlpools, one of the world’s three major tidal currents, are worth seeing.
