(2 Days 1 Night) Tottori Sand Dunes and Mt. Daisen – Experience Tottori’s Great Nature

Enjoy the rich nature of “Mt. Daisen” towering in Tottori Prefecture and explore the preserved district of “Kurayoshi White-Walled Storehouse District.” On the second day, visit the vast “Tottori Sand Dunes,” the artistic “Sand Museum” featuring sand sculptures made from the world’s rare sand, and the “Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory” dedicated to the creator of the globally popular anime “Detective Conan.”

Day1

Departure from Yonago Station (around 9:30 AM)

Mt. Daisen Masumizu Highland Sky Lift (30 minutes)

The only sky lift operating in the Mt. Daisen area from spring to autumn. You can enjoy a luxurious 8-minute aerial stroll while viewing Mt. Daisen in its seasonal splendor. At the mountaintop observation deck at 900m elevation, a grand panorama unfolds with views of the gradation between the Sea of Japan and blue sky.

Mt. Daisen Makiba Milk Village: Lunch (60 minutes)

At Mt. Daisen Makiba Milk Village, surrounded by rich nature, you can enjoy special soft-serve ice cream and dishes made with their pride-worthy milk and dairy products.

Daisen Area Highlights: A Perfect Day Trip

Kurayoshi White-Walled Storehouse District (60 minutes)

Many buildings from the Edo and Meiji periods remain, allowing you to feel the atmosphere of those times. In this atmospheric townscape where white-walled storehouses and buildings are utilized in various forms as product halls and cafes, time flows leisurely and peacefully.

Mt. Mitoku Worship Site

Mt. Mitoku Sanbutsuji Nageiredo is an unparalleled architectural structure built in a recess of a vertically rising cliff, designated as a National Treasure. This is the only place where you can view Nageiredo from the base of Mt. Mitoku.

Misasa Onsen (Overnight stay)

Tottori Castle Ruins (30 minutes)

A castle built during the Warring States period that became the stage for Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s siege by starvation. Currently, most buildings have been demolished, leaving stone walls and the castle keep foundation. It’s also one of the prefecture’s premier cherry blossom viewing spots.

Tottori Sand Dunes (Lunch)

Climbing the magnificent 47-meter-high sand dune reveals the Sea of Japan spreading out before you, with distant coastlines visible. Activities to enjoy the vast dunes are abundant, including camel riding experiences and fat biking on the sand. At the Sand Dune Center Miharashi-no-Oka, you can enjoy seafood bowls and limited menus featuring marine delicacies.

Sand Museum (40 minutes)

The world’s first museum specializing in sand sculpture exhibitions. Based on the concept of “world travel through sand,” exhibitions change themes annually. There are large-scale sand sculptures exceeding 20 meters in width, offering spectacular displays to enjoy.

Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory (60 minutes)

A museum dedicated to Gosho Aoyama, known as the creator of “Detective Conan.” With replica original artwork and recreated workspace areas, it’s a facility enjoyable for both children and adults.

Kurayoshi Station (around 5:00 PM)
