Kankakei, awarded as one of the three most beautiful gorges in Japan and a symbol of the Seto Inland Sea National Park, was born from volcanic activity 13 million years ago and is a valley of strange rocks created over a long period of time. You can enjoy a 360° aerial walk through the strange rock valley that changes with each season from the ropeway! The ropeway operates over a total length of 917m with a height difference of 317m, taking about 5 minutes.
Operating hours are 8:30 to 17:00 (until 16:30 in winter).
The ropeway operates every 12 minutes (00, 12, 24, 36, 48)
*There are temporary ropeways every 6 minutes during peak times.
There are several observatories around the summit station where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea. In particular, the Setouchi International Art Festival 2022, Aoki Noe’s “Sky Ball/Kankakei” is popular as a viewing platform (artwork) with a superb view. There are also fun spots such as leaf bookmark making, cutout frame rental, 7-color umbrella rental, and photo shooting at the lucky heart pine bench. In addition, there is a snack corner and a shop in front of the summit station, where you can find limited gourmet food and souvenirs from Kankakei.
